Smithtown West's Envirothon team has made history! The team, consisting of seniors Joey Davide, Sierra Needham, Emma Phillips, and Sydnie Vogel as well as freshman Kiera Flynn, took first place in the regional Envirothon held this week!
The team placed first in Suffolk County, beating over a dozen other teams, and has advanced to the state level competition. This was Smithtown West's first entry into the Envirothon.
The Envirothon is an environmental competition for high school students in Nassau and Suffolk Counties.
It is based on five subject areas: Aquatics,Forestry, Soils, Wildlife, and the Current Issue - which changes annually.
The students used their environmental knowledge to examine wildlife, compare a variety of trees, and answer questions about soil, aquatics, and the issues relating to the Adirondack mountains."
Congratulations!
